I’m Dr Daksha Hirani
(DClinPsy, AFBPsS)I’m a chartered clinical psychologist with deep expertise in recovery from narcissistic abuse and helping people overcome the trauma of being in coercive controlling relationships.
I love seeing people achieve their potential. I know that approaching therapy in any form can feel scary, especially when psychological terminology and jargon is being thrown around. Having experienced narcissistic abuse myself, I am all too familiar with the fear and confusion that can blur the way forward.
My aim is to take the “-ology” out and put the human being in. While my techniques are rooted in evidence and sound psychological techniques, my mission is to provide support in a practical way by speaking plain English, not textbook.
Practical, approachable
psychological support
Over the past 10 years, I have specialised in supporting people recovering from narcissistic abuse. I believe deeply in your ability to reclaim your story, and I’m here to give you the tools to do it.
Seeing people free themselves from unhealthy relationship patterns, and giving them the tools to navigate the journey is something I find great satisfaction in.
My approach is underpinned by the trauma focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model, which focuses on increasing your insight and awareness into your experience whilst equipping you with practical tools so that you are able to make meaningful value based changes that take you towards a living a life you want to lead. Using Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) therapeutic approaches I work to address the somatic challenges clients undoubtedly face when experiencing trauma.
Away from the therapy room, when I’m not teaching or writing, I enjoy swimming, walking, meditating and spending time with my husband and two children.
“When it comes to recovering after narcissistic abuse, it’s difficult to find someone who not only understands what you’ve been through but also has the credentials, expertise, and personal experience to show you the path forward. Dr. Daksha Hirani leads survivors of narcissistic abuse with a gentle hand to a better life waiting for them, believing that it doesn’t have to be a life sentence and thriving afterward is more than possible as she has experienced firsthand.”
